SER Peer Education

Spartan Experience Record (SER) Peed Education sessions are offered by SER Ambassadors. There are three session types available to MSU undergraduates: Q&A sessions, Goal Alignment sessions, and Resume Development and Interview Preparation sessions.

  • Q&A Drop-In sessions: Offered virtually with no appointment necessary, these sessions are designed to introduce MSU Undergraduates to the SER as both a record and a tool. Drop in and join SER Ambassadors as they discuss what the SER is, how it can be used, where to request your SER and more, all while addressing your specific questions along the way! Sessions occur each Monday at 5:000PM, Wednesday at 2:00PM, and Friday at 1:00PM, with adjustments for campus closures and special circumstances. Zoom links can be accessed by clicking on the above session time that you’re interested in.
  • Goal Alignment sessions: These peer-led 1:1 meetings focus on finding co-curricular activities that align to your interests and goals. Sessions are scheduled in 20 minute blocks and can be in-person or virtual. To schedule a Goal Alignment session, email the SER team at mystory@msu.edu with “Goal Alignment session” noted in the subject line. We will respond to your email with some available session times and questions in order to get an appointment scheduled with you.
    • SER Ambassadors are student employees, who lead individualized SER Peer Education sessions, trained to assist peers by suggesting out-of-classroom experiences that can help you along your chosen path, using the SER Opportunities Catalog as a resource. You may book a goal alignment session for several reasons, including but not limited to: Assistance finding co-curricular experiences that…
      • Will help you develop a transferrable skill that is necessary for your chosen career
      • Could help you better understand yourself and your desires for the future
      • Might open the door to meet new people and strengthen your sense of community at MSU
      • Could help you reach goals, aside from career goals, such as fitness, creativity, or other personal growth goals
  • Resume Development and Interview Preparation sessions: These peer-led 1:1 meetings encourage reflection of co-curricular engagement to help students further develop resumes or prepare for interviews. Sessions are scheduled in 30 minute blocks and can be in-person or virtual. To schedule a Resume Development and Interview Preparation session, email the SER team at mystory@msu.edu with “Resume Development and Interview Preparation session” noted in the subject line. We will respond to your email with some available session times and questions in order to get an appointment scheduled with you.
    • SER Ambassadors are student employees, who lead individualized SER Peer Education sessions, trained to assist peers by encouraging reflection of out-of-classroom experiences, using your Spartan Experience Record as a resource. After completing a resume development & interview preparation session, you will have a greater understanding of how you can utilize your Spartan Experience Record as a resource and be empowered to articulate your Spartan experience.

Note: SER Ambassadors are peer-coaches that help students find opportunities for out-of-classroom learning and reflect on co-curricular experiences. SER Ambassadors are not trained career or academic advisors, but are trained to guide undergraduate students toward MSU career development resources for further assistance.
